The original One Pillar Pagoda was built in 1049 by the second King Ly. The pagoda is shaped like a lotus blooming on its stem. This current recreation is smaller than the original.
The reason I mention annoyances is because I had climbed up, taken my shoes off, made an offering and was trying to say a prayer when a woman and her young son backed up into me. She moved aside, but her son was still in front of me. With a cheap little metal flute or recorder type toy. Which he then proceeded to wave around, smacking me not only in the legs but INTO MY CAMERA.
My prayers quickly changed into prayers to give me the strength not to murder this little boy. I pulled my camera away and tried to say something but he mother didn't notice or understand. Descended the stairs and moved on.
So instead of more pagoda photos, here's some random shots from nearby.
