Pak Beng stopover

During our two day boat trip to Luang Prabang, we spent the night in the village of Pak Beng. It's a small town with a few guesthouses and restaurants catering to the tourists that stop over for the night.

We arrived early, before the influx, so had some time to wander around the quiet street and check out the market.

First we stopped at a stand selling boiled eggs and lettuce wraps. The eggs were ok, but the wraps had noodles and eggplant and were really good.

Chickens. We saw lots of chickens.

I'd say this is the main street, but it seems to be the street. There are other streets, but they are much smaller.

We visited the market, which is a local farmer's market. People were amused to see us walking around and asking about stuff.

We tried some local alcohol. It was potent.
