Vientiane: Vat Sisaket and many, many tiny Buddhas

As we got near Vientiane,  the capital of Laos, the rain tapered off and it turned into a lovely day.

After lunch walked by the Presidential Palace

Which is at the end of a long Boulevard sometimes referred to as their Champs-Elysées, complete with Victory Arch at the other end (more on that in the next post)

Stopped to visit Vat (temple) Sisaket, inhabited by a dog who found a nice shady respite from the sun.

All around the temple are little alcoves filled with tiny Buddha statues. There must be thousands. They fill the back walla inside the temple, too.

While I was there, what looked like an international group of workers was behind the altar doing restoration work on the statues and their alcoves.

Outside the temple there was an artist working.
