The National Museum is a complex made up of several buildings: a theatre, a temple, a garage, and the main museum, which used to be the royal palace.
The theatre runs traditional dance performances.
The royal palace contains rooms set up the way they were when occupied by the royal family, plus a number of other objects on display, including the crown jewels. One enormous room was covered in mosaics displaying stories from Lao history.
I had hoped to see the solid gold Prabang Buddha in a new exhibition hall behind the palace, but they were closing. The temple was also closed by the time we finished the museum and theatre.
