The long (mountainous and pretty) drive towards Vang Vieng

We set out early in the morning for the 6-8 hour drive from Luang Prabang to a village outside Vang Vieng for a homestay.

We passed many rice fields. At first we thought they were harvesting, but they were actually planting.

The ride was through the mountains and the wet roads made it a little terrifying. It reminded me of some of the drives we took in Turkey.

Stopped for a break and photos.

In case you were thirsty, you can choose between deer hoof, bear paw or bees.

Needless to say, I passed.

We continued on, then stopped for lunch at a restaurant near the top of the mountain.

Their toilets also had amazing views.

Yes, I was sitting on the toilet when I took this.
The views from the restaurant weren't too awful.

Lunch with a view

Not impressed
