Crossing into Lao

After spending the night in a pretty jungle lodge in the tiny border town of Chiang Khong

With prettier views of the Mekong River than I could take with my phone

We got up early the next day and headed to the Thailand-Lao border.

Apparently one pays for your Lao visa on arrival with US dollars. Out of 13 people, I am the only American and the only one who did not have much US cash with me! Thankfully I had just enough to get across and we were in Laos!
