People seem to be interested in food and drink, so here's some random drinking and eating photos from Luang Prabang.
Down the street from our hotel was a hotel with a lotus pond. And happy hour specials from 5pm - 7pm.
As it began to get dark the staff lit candles around the walkways, it was very pretty.
We all went to dinner one night and three of us shared a bottle of local fruit wine. It was very sweet. I like sweet but I wasn't a fan of this.
Laap, a Lao dish.
We met this guy selling yummy little coconut cakes on the street near the night market. Luang Prabang has a HUGE handicraft night market that runs every night and is jam packed with vendors. It is the place for souvenirs, clothing and decorative items. I almost redid my bedroom because of some gorgeous embroidered bedspreads and cushion covers I found there.
Anyway, he makes this delicious treats, which are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And he speaks excellent English. He is quite a nice guy, and gave us lots of freebies.
One night we were invited into the home of a local family for dinner. We had quite a variety of dishes...local sausage, laap, a curry dish, salad, fried breaded eggplant, and a few others I can't recall.
And fresh mango for dessert.
Luang Prabang is a pretty laid back town, since it has a midnight curfew, most bars close at 1130. But there are certainly no shortage of places to sit and have a drink after the night market closes at 10pm.

There's also a whole fish dish that's a specialty of Laos. Too bad you don't enjoy the seafood!
