About 45 minutes outside of Luang Prabang is the Kuang Si Waterfall park.
The walk up to the falls was like walking through a green jungle with pretty, exotic (to me) plants.
The lower falls were very pretty.
But while everyone else went back down to the swimming hole, three of us decided that since we were up at 5am to see the alms giving ceremony, it was the perfect day to scamper up the rest of the mountain to the top of the waterfall.
It was a long, difficult climb, but we eventually got to thentop. The views were worth it.
There was no way we could get down the way we came up, so we had to cross the ponds at the top to get to a path on the other side.
As we got near the botto, we found what looked like a gest swimming hole, but weren't allowed to go in, so we kept going.
Finally we found the right place and joined in for a swim. Which we desperately needed after getting so sweaty and dirty during our climb!
Attached to the park is also a bear rescue. Bears that were in shows or other bad situations were brought here to live happy, lazy, bear lives.
