A day off, sort of

My first day in Bangkok I was exhausted, both from running around Japan, waking up extra early the previous two days, and flying all day. So I decided to not play tourist and just relax.

I slept in, ordered a room service breakfast (for about the same price as an American fast food meal) and took my time getting ready.

Took a taxi across town to the International Buddhist Meditation Center for an (free, English) meditation class.

It was a little hard to find, and Bangkok sort of smells like dog poop, but I got there.

After class I wandered around a bit, and found a small market.

Around the market people were selling stuff, too.

Walked by a post office. With big bags of mail just sitting outside.

Walked thru a park.

I got some coconut ice cream.

Took a tuk-tuk back towards the hotel to visit a temple (next post) and in case you were wondering where to get a giant Buddha statue, well, you go to the giant Buddha statue store!
