Wat Arun or Temple of the Dawn is right on the river. Its name comes from Aruna, though everyone recommends going there to climb the central tower and watching the sun set.
As you can see from the photos, there was a lot of reconstruction going on and climbing the tower is off limits. Walking around the temple grounds was sort of like walking around a ghost town. There were few tourists, roped off areas, statues in random locatioms and construction materials lying around.
