Hello again, Tokyo

We arrived in Tokyo from Hakone around 10pm, after a long day, so mostly just crashed in my room. I was tired, and even the bright lights and bustle of Shinjuku couldn't lure me away from my cozy bed.

The next day we reacquainted ourselves with the oppressive heat and insane crowds of Tokyo by heading to Yanaka Cemetery and the Tennoji Temple.

We are....somewhere. And headed....somewhere else.

Tennoji was founded in 1274

It is a Tendai Buddhist temple

Strange marker at Yanaka Cemetery
Since we were there on a Sunday, there were many people visiting and taking care of their family's gravesite. As we were walking around looking at them, we came across a freshly cleaned grave with flowers and incense still burning, so stopped to examine it. The daughter of the man buried there saw us and came by to ask why we were standing there. It could have been awkward, but she didn't seem perturbed and actually thanked us for visiting.

A sign telling people not to abandon their dogs or cats in the cemetery. Sad that such a notice is even necessary.
