A glimpse of life on Miyajima Island

On Miyajima Island....

...there are other, less famous Torii gates

...main streets are lined with souvenir shops

...deer are sacred and hang out everywhere, unless they are trying to eat your map

...restaurants serve okonomiyaki

...which makes me happy

...salads are topped with burdock root chips, which are incredible

...your coffee is served with momji manju pastries

...a ferry must be taken

...after the mountains, the red Torii gate is what one sees first

...the %$#&£@ ropeway is always out of service

...lizards have blue tails

...deer try to get a sip of your coffee

...and you don't blame them because the coffee is good

...everywhere you go you walk by deer

...though rarely a tiny little baby one

...which hasn't figured out how to be annoying

...or get into restaurants like the older deer

...many cute things abound to take photos with

...almost everything is closed at night

...except deer, who appear out of nowhere

...cafes make their own ginger ale

....little shrines are everywhere

Miyajima Island.
