Hello again, Tokyo, continued

Thr cemetery did not become our eternal resting place, instead we moved on and passed the Old Yoshida Sake Store. Since many in our group enjoy sake, of course we stopped.

Yoshida had been a sake store since the Edo period and was partially reconstructed in 1935.

I really liked the old advertisement posters on the walls.

Sadly, there was no sake to be had, so we moved on to the Tokyo National Museum.

I only was able to view the exhibits in the main gallery but most of what I saw was very interesting. Though having an art historian by my side while going through the second floor Highlights of Japanese Art to point things out and answer questions definitely made the experience more pleasurable.

It's Japan, of course the museum has a beautiful garden in the back.
On the way to find lunch we passed through Ueno Park where some sort of ice sculpture competition was taking place. However, ice sculptures and Tokyo summers do not mix. Note the puddles of water and broken pieces of ice on the ground.

On the other side of the park we ate lunch on the second floor with train tracks over our head. Everything shook every five minutes, creating an interesting eating environment.

A photo of my food, even if Clara won't find it interesting
After lunch we did a little shopping. I did not purchase these large fish heads.

After shopping drink and snack break with cute cookies.

And on the way back to the hotel, I saw Godzilla towering over the 8th story of a building!
