Part one is over

Shinjuku from my hotel window
Sadly, we said sayonara to Phila-Nipponica 2015 this morning. Most of the group had flights back to the States today. We had a goodbye party last night, then some of us went for karaoke. I drank too much, but had a great night. (Many) pictures and (few) words from our last days in Tokyo to come soon.

I had an incredible time exploring religion in Japan over the past three weeks. I've visited places I didn't even know were there, saw and did so many special places and things, and learned so much. I am forever indebted to Frank and Paula for not only one but two opportunities to experience this fascinating country. I wish I had the words to properly express how I feel.

I will recap later, when I get a chance, but tonight I will rest after spending my last night in Tokyo with Godzilla and dinner and wonderful people.

Tomorrow begins part two with an early flight to Hiroshima, a train down the coast and a ferry to Miyajima Island. Cross your fingers we don't run into any problems with the approaching typhoon.....
