Grand Palace photo dump

The morning before the group tour began, I visited the Grand Palace. The complex was built in 1782 after King Rama I ascended the throne and wanted a new capital on the other side of the river.

The Grand Palace was overwhelming. It is 218,000 square meters and the map shows 35 buildings or structures, nevermind the few that aren't labeled. It consists of the royal residence, government offices, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and a lot more. Much of it is very ornate with gold and colorful, glittery tiles.

It got to be a bit much. I randomly clicked on every other photo or so, and I present them, with no further explanation.
